Quick rules

How to use this sheet

  1. Two players choose different marks—traditionally X and O—and decide who goes first.
  2. On your turn, place your mark in one empty square. Players alternate turns, and an occupied square cannot be changed or used again.
  3. The first player to place three of their marks in one horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row wins. The board ends as soon as a winning row is made.
  4. If all nine squares are filled and neither player has three in a row, the game is a draw.
  5. Use a fresh printed board for the next game; alternate who goes first if you play a series.
